Boatbuilding is our core business and has been since Blue Haven Marine was established in 1988. We are members of the British Marine Federation (BMF) and the Canal Boatbuilders Association (CBA). This enables us to keep up to date with boatbuilding legislation, such as gas and electrical installations. We use the BMF terms of agreement for the construction of craft which safeguards both the client and ourselves.
Our main workshop consists of a double floating dock and benchwork area. Here we construct two craft at a time to the very highest standard, combining meticulous attention to detail and flexibility to customer requirements with superb cratmanship and the latest in woodworking technology.
Working closely with the client in the design and construction of the individual craft, we remain at all times aware of their preferences in layout, trim and furnishings so that they get the boat they want, safe in the knowledge that the technical details will be taken care of by Blue Haven Marine professionally.
All joinery is made in-house by our employed craftsmen. Gas, electrics and engines are all installed by highly skilled profesionals.
We offer a choice of materials to suit your personal taste and budget and should you wish to finish your boat yourselves then we are willing to complete work to any stage that you require.
Whilst narrowboats are our speciality we also fit out narrow beam dutch barges. In addition we now have the facility to fit out wide beam craft on hard standing.
Concentrating on fitting out rather than hull building gives us the opportunity to choose high quality steelwork from the many hull builders around the country.
We are not agents for any particular engine manufacturer which allows us the flexibility to install the best engine to suit your requirements.
All our completed craft are surveyed for a British Waterways Certificate of Safety and are CE marked by us, and each boat is supplied with its own individual owners manual that includes comprehensive diagrams for all plumbing, wiring etc.
